"I felt energized for the day – way more than any coffee could ever offer"

I was a CFO for over a decade and close to what some might call a workaholic.I found the optional offering of a daily Qigong-session at 7 am in the morning.As usual, I got stuck with my personal trade-off between having a coffee, an early business chat and some newspapers over fried eggs, or... doing some kind of sport in a cold court with über-energized trainers and attendees. That decision was an easy one! However, I found myself attending the Qigong session the next morning . Maybe it was, because you were not asked to come in sports clothes; maybe it was because they allowed beginners, or, it was because I got the impression that none of my peers that I had talked to had experienced Qigong before…I expected thousands of rituals and impossible body movements. I was wrong.

There was no single movement I wasn’t able to do. I stayed and came back the next day.I found that the sessions helped me better relate to colleagues as well as  feeling energized for the day – way more than any coffee could ever offer. I was openly breathing and could feel the extra oxygen – at the same time I felt very grounded and balanced. And finally, I started my days with a smile.”

“I am a senior civil servant in Northern Ireland, in a highly responsible role, and had my first experience of Qigong in the mornings at a course on major projects. Despite the classes starting first thing in the morning before long days of study, and my initial skepticism, I tried a class and was immediately hooked. I now practice almost every day and while struggle to complete the moves to a decent level, I have noticed the health, wellbeing and professional benefits from the beginning. The two direct professional benefits are: (1) bringing calm to the beginning of the day; and (2) the perspective which this provides.
